As a product designer, I took on the challenge of designing the Profile Management feature for the GoTo platform. The objective was to create a centralized and user-friendly location where users could easily manage multiple accounts.
Why is this feature necessary?
The Profile Management feature was designed to provide users with an updated and personalized experience. It allows them to effortlessly make changes and updates to their personal information. This includes tasks such as modifying usernames, updating phone numbers, and adding new bios. The feature is equipped with a comprehensive set of tools that enable users to fully customize and personalize their profiles according to their preferences.
However, designing this feature presented its own set of challenges. One of the main concerns was ensuring a seamless user experience while implementing strict validation and restriction protocols. It was crucial to consider the validation rules set by Tokopedia's team to ensure data security and integrity. Thus, finding the right balance between user-friendliness and security became a top priority during the design process.
It all began with an extensive and comprehensive user research phase, where we delved deep into the pain points, challenges, and needs of our users. By gaining a clear understanding of their requirements, we were able to lay a solid foundation for the feature.
As a product designer, I embarked on the creation of wireframes and prototypes to visually represent the user interface and gather valuable feedback. These visual representations allowed me to bring the feature to life and provided an opportunity for users to engage with it at an early stage. Their feedback and insights were invaluable in shaping the direction of the design.
But I didn't stop there. I recognized the importance of an iterative testing and refinement process to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience. Through multiple rounds of testing and feedback collection, I fine-tuned the feature, ironing out any wrinkles and making necessary adjustments along the way. This iterative approach allowed me to address any usability issues and make the necessary improvements.
Once the design was finalized, our talented development team took charge of implementing the feature, collaborating closely with me as the dedicated product designer. This collaboration ensured that the design vision was accurately translated into the final product, down to the smallest details. By maintaining a constant line of communication, we were able to overcome any hurdles and keep the project on track.
The final stage is the design bug bash, where we conducted thorough testing of the Profile Management feature, specifically focusing on the design aspect. Our objective was to identify and resolve any design-related bugs or issues that may have emerged during development. We aimed to ensure that the feature not only met high-quality and reliability standards, but also provided a seamless and visually appealing user experience. By meticulously testing and refining the design, we were able to address any design-related usability issues, ultimately delivering a feature that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing to our users.
The current status of the rollout
The Profile Management feature has been a great success. Users are thrilled to have the ability to easily update their personal information across multiple accounts on the GoTo platform.
